The Metamorphoses: Artwalk 2024

The Metamorphoses of Ovid is one of the most timeless classics of ancient poetry-and a work of literature that has inspired hundreds of artists though history. It tells most of the stories of the Greco-Roman myths from the beginning of creation out of Chaos up to the death of Julius Ceasar. Titian's series of eight paintings detailing the most erotic scenes of the epic poem directly empowered me to begin this set of Metamorphoses, each depicting a change in both the history of African mythology as well as a more personal evolution toward independence.
Each of these seven paintings was exhibited at the 2024 Artwalk Exhibition at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. They are also the artworks which make up the final product of my BFA Thesis in Painting.
